The Ministry of Development, Infrastructure, and Territory Planning informed the Government Council of three emergency works that began in mid-October on roads in the Sierra de Cádiz, with an investment of 363,000 euros. As indicated by the Andalusian Regional Government in a note, two of these works have already concluded and involved the repair of landslides detected on the A-2300 and A-2302 roads. The third work, which is still underway, focuses on fixing the cracks that have appeared on the Ubrique bypass (A-373).
Specifically, ground movements at kilometer 8 of the Grazalema to Ubrique road (A-2302) caused a landslide affecting the transverse drainage work. This resulted in fissures, cracks, and potholes on the surface, as well as significant deformation of the road, leading to a change in the road gradient. The affected section is located in the municipality of Villaluenga del Rosario and causes circulation problems on this road, which runs through the Sierra de Cádiz and is used by over 800 vehicles daily. To prevent further land slippage, a rockfill wall was constructed to contain the road’s slope, combined with the replacement of the damaged drainage work and the demolition and restoration of the affected firm. This emergency work, already completed, was started in mid-October by the company Garfer for 136,364 euros.
A similar situation was detected on the A-2300 road, running from Algodonales to the A-372 by the Zahara-El Gastor Reservoir, with an average of 489 vehicles per day. At kilometer 8, near Zahara de la Sierra, a landslide was observed that broke the existing transverse drainage work, leading to cracks and potholes on the surface. To address this issue affecting traffic to the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, works were awarded to the company Iter Trivium for 129,600 euros. These works involved the construction of a rockfill wall, the replacement of the damaged transverse drainage work, and the demolition and restoration of the affected firm.
Lastly, the Ministry of Development, Infrastructure, and Territory Planning allocated 96,963 euros to repair cracks detected on a section of the Ubrique bypass, at kilometer point 31 of the A-373 road (Villamartín-Algatocín). Towards the middle of the section, the surface is slightly sunken. The proposed solution involved the demolition and removal of the existing sidewalk on the right side of the road, dismantling of the existing lamp post and railing, construction of a micropile wall with a top binding beam, replacement of the curb line, sidewalk, lamp post, and railing to their original conditions, and milling and restoration of the affected firm, followed by repainting of the section.
